Steel Blue Workboots VW Crafter Neat Conversion

Steel Blue are a manufacturer and distributor of High Quality Work Boots originally founded in Australia in 1995 and with subsidiaries in New Zealand, Europe and USA and they came to us looking for a high quality conversion on their new VW Crafter van they had just bought.

We insulated the inside and laminated the panels in situ in a specific colour to match their requirements and fitted a partition in the vehicle to give a storage and service space at the rear with a good sales environment in the front.

In the back we fitted a Battery and Inverter system which is linked to a Solar panel array on the roof via a Solar charge controller and is also charged with a mains charger and a split charger from the alternator. We also fitted a diesel heater blower system to provide heat on those cold frosty mornings. A small fridge was recessed into the back compartment and adjustable storage shelves fitted above the service area for work boots, seats and accessories.

The front sales area has a series of angled shelves to display the boots, a removable sliding chair with custom leather covering, custom built cabinets with integral storage drawers, a TV screen, an illuminated Backlit LED logo, a radio and amp system, a fridge and colourchange LED underlighting and ceiling lighting to give the impression of a small showroom for the company’s products. In the front cab we removed the seats, recovered them all in Steel Blue work boot leather, including the Steel Blue logo on the headrests and made them all spin round to form seating for the showroom area, including the double passenger seat which was the first time we had made one of those spin round.

Outside the vehicle has a full vinyl wrap and a manual wind-out awning with removable sides and front, including logos
