Neat Vehicles were commissioned by Aerotest, a company based in Hertfordshire, to build an engine testing trailer for Rolls Royce Aero Engines to test their new Hydrogen Aircraft engine in the USA. They had a trailer which was used for testing Hercules engines but this new engine is substantially heavier and has a different centre of gravity when deployed. We recalculated the loads on the trailer, removed all the axles and some of the structure, then welded in additional steelwork, made a stronger turntable added stronger axles as well as an additional axle with different specification wheels and tyres and repainted the trailer, all to Rolls Royce specification, fitting all new decking and fittings. The trailer went to Rolls Royce in Derby where the engine was added and then shipped to the USA to NASA where the engine underwent several trials.

Aerotest specialise in making aero engine testing rigs so we worked in conjunction with them to an exacting specification and the end result you can see here in the photos, one of the trailer before the test rig was fitted and several with it deployed at NASA.

What we arrived at was a completely new trailer from what we were given, all designed and built in our Nottinghamshire factory and both Aerotest and Rolls Royce were very happy with the result..
