Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Fully Electric Mobile Research Clinic 4,250 Kg

This is one of the most advanced mobile clinics on the road today, built for the Medical Research Team at Bradford NHS Teaching Hospital. It is also one of the greenest vehicles available currently as it is a fully electric vehicle but also fully electric on the interior power, having a separate battery system with an inverter which powers all the electrical items on board. This is also connected to Solar panels on the roof and has a mains charging system for overnight charging.

As the vehicle is fully electric it is allowed to be 4,250 Kg and still be driven on a normal car licence, so we built it up to this limit, incorporating everything the customer needed.

We have designed this specifically for the Bradford Research team and they really like the layout. It features an outside canopy with sides which can double as a waiting area or reception area with folding chairs and a folding table. This area also has an external 65″ weatherproof LED screen and two sets of punched aluminium steps with polished stainless handrails.

The exterior is fully vinyl wrapped with bright imagery and features the research team’s colours. The interior features three separate rooms, and has two doors to the outside enabling a good throughflow of people. On entering the left door, which has the facility to have a portable disabled ramp attached, the public will enter a waiting room with L shaped bench, LED screen, storage cupboard and fold- down laptop table. This also doubles as an interview room for completing questionnaires and also to show how research works on the LED screen which can be connected to a laptop. Through a sliding double door the main clinic is situated with storage cupboards on both sides with work surfaces for medical equipment including a mounted centrifuge, and a fully compliant HTM sink & tap with TMV3 Valve connected to a pump and water containers. The mobile clinic has a heater which is powered from HVO and from the batteries, which blows out hot air in both rooms and gives hot water for the taps.

The water system is in one side and the other side features two 47 litre +2 degrees medical fridges for samples and vaccines. Storage cupboards are included in this area, and there are apron holders, soap dispensers and glove dispensers dotted around.

In the clinic area is an examination stool and an examination couch which can be either a phlebotomy chair or a couch which goes to 10 degrees head down and 10 degrees feet up, with associated attachments. At the rear of the clinic is a wall mounted sharps bin and waste bin. On board equipment includes centrifuge, height and weight monitors, Blood Pressure monitor, Thermometer, Oxygen Levels Indicator, ECG Machine, Emergency Oxygen, Suction and Defibrillator pack.

Into the final room there is a cassette toilet and drop down sink, and a soap dispenser and extractor fan mounted to the wall. This enables urine samples to be taken with a separate sink for hand wash.

All this is lit with LED strip lights and panel lights, fed from the lithium batteries and inverter system.
